Hello, I’m Mark.

I first started advising in 1999, whilst working for Alliance & Leicester. Although I enjoyed working in mortgages, I wasn’t comfortable working in a bank and constantly being told to sell every product possible. Sadly, sales seemed more important than people.

I wanted to be an adviser, not a sales person. Then, after spending a couple of years in Australia, and then managing a pub back here, I became an Independent Mortgage Broker in 2006. I thoroughly enjoyed this because I wasn’t just offering a handful of mortgages, like at the bank, I could access the whole of the market and actually provide clients with the best product available to them. I could also help many clients who didn’t meet the strict criteria of the high street and mainstream lenders.

I have also worked in other financial roles, including a few years as a Money Adviser with Citizens Advice, where I was helping people with various financial issues, including mortgage arrears. I enjoyed that role, but I am really enjoying being a mortgage broker again. I enjoy meeting and getting to know new clients, researching their case, and finding the most suitable product for them. Not much feels better than helping good people buy their own home!

I think that I am honest, conscientious and determined. I have a great deal of empathy for people, and their situations, and I am determined to help everyone who wants to buy a home, regardless of their financial background. I genuinely want to see good outcomes for everyone, and I especially enjoy helping those who are a little nervous or unsure about the process.

There are a lot of good mortgage advisers out there. My advice is to choose someone who you believe will always work in your best interests, leave no stone unturned and will communicate well with you. You are the client and you should feel comfortable asking any questions, or sharing any concerns you have. You are undergoing a huge financial transaction and you need to feel confident in your adviser.

I do this job because I enjoy it, and I do not take on more cases that I can comfortably handle. I want to do a great job for all my clients, rather than juggle too many cases which would affect the service that I give. Whilst I won’t always be able to answer every call immediately, I will always phone, email or text back as promptly as possible. I am flexible with the hours I work, and I can be available in the evenings and at weekends. I will be genuinely grateful that you are my client and treat you with the respect you deserve!
