Hello, I’m Mark.
I first started advising in 1999, whilst working for Alliance & Leicester (if you can remember them). Although I enjoyed mortgage advising, I wasn’t comfortable working in a bank environment and constantly being pressurised to “sell” every product possible. Sadly, sales seemed more important than people. I wanted to be an adviser, not a sales person. I will not be pressuring anyone to take anything they do not want or need!
I became an Independent Mortgage Broker in 2006, so that I could offer clients the best value and most suitable mortgages available, from many different lenders, rather than just a handful of products from one bank. I could then also help many clients who didn’t meet the strict criteria of the high street and mainstream lenders.
I have worked in other financial roles, including a few years as a Money Adviser Caseworker with Citizens Advice. Whilst I enjoyed that role, I was really glad to return to mortgage advising. I find it extremely rewarding to help people buy their own home because it is such a happy and significant life event.
I am friendly, honest and conscientious. I have a great deal of empathy for people, and their situations, and I am determined to help anyone who wants to buy their own home, regardless of their financial background. I genuinely want to see good outcomes for everyone, and I am especially patient when helping those who are a little nervous or unsure about the process.
There are a lot of good mortgage advisers out there. My advice is to choose someone who you believe will always work in your best interests and communicate well with you. You are the client and you should feel comfortable asking any questions, or sharing any concerns you have. You are undergoing a huge financial transaction and you need to feel confident in your adviser.
Whilst I won’t always be able to answer every call immediately, I will always phone, email or text back as promptly as possible. I am flexible with the hours I work, and I can be available in the evenings and at weekends. I will be genuinely grateful that you are my client.
